So after a brief hiatus I’m back to familiar territory – an ink review. I’ve postponed the Diamine reviews a little longer because the opportunity arose to review Noodler’s Park Red, courtesy of Pen Chalet (penchalet.com).

Collections Update April 11, 2015
I didn’t expect to be able to post this today. I should have been working tonight but that fell through. There won’t be a links post this weekend though.
I am slowly adding items to the Collections Pages, and photographing Word Cards with ink swabs to produce refernce images for all the bottled inks. In doing so I realised I had made a terrible mistake. When I posted that I had reached 200 bottles of ink, I had miscounted and the total should have been 201. Oh the shame. The “missing ink” was Noodler’s Heart of Darkness, which is soaked in irony as it’s currently my favourite black ink, and the one that I use to label all the Word Cards (using the free Platinum Preppy supplied with it, naturally). How did I leave that off the list?
The other embarrassing admission is that I’ve also acquired some more bottled ink in the meantime, taking the total to 2013. I clearly have a problem.
Once all the new Word Card photos have been uploaded to Flickr I will add them back to the ink reviews I’ve already done. I was never happy with the inconsistent results I was getting before and I think I’ve finally come up with a workflow that will achieve consistent results. The cards are still a bit skewed in some photos, but I think I can live with that. I could always crop them if it gets too annoying.
Collections Update
The challenge of developing a database to hold information about my ink, pen and notebook collections really fired my imagination. When wrote in my last post “One day I may turn it all into a real database to enable filtering, sorting and immediate updates” I really should have said that I would do it within the next week.

Ink Collection Page
My ink collection page is now online here: Ink Collection
It currently lists only bottled inks. I do have a number of cartridges, but they are not one of my main areas of interest, so while they may be added later that is not a high priority.
Pens and notebooks should get their own pages later.
The table was generated from a simple Excel spreadsheet so it will need updating manually when new inks are added. One day I may turn it all into a real database to enable filtering, sorting and immediate updates, but that’s low priority too.
