Better late than never I suppose, but my first fountain pen review is unlikely to be typical of the ones to come. Unlike every other fountain pen I have, I didn’t have to pay for this one, and it’s for a type of pen that until recently I didn’t know even existed – a retractable fountain pen. Apparently the Pilot Capless (or Vanishing Point) Fountain Pen has been around since before I was born, but I until I got back into fountain pens last Summer I had never heard of it. However, once I started listening to a certain Podcast I couldn’t really avoid it.

The Winner Is
I can’t be sure of the last time I won a competition. It may have been a pancake race in 1984.

Introducing the Inkpourium
I’m starting to catalogue my pens, inks, and related items, and the photos are going into a Flickr Photoset, which keeps them separate from the scans for the ink reviews and my other photos. This photoset can also be accessed through the “Inkpourium” page. The dependent pages filter out the relevant tagged photos and will be added to as the collection expands. Look at the pages and you’ll soon get the picture (boom, boom).
The Flickr widget stream had become a mess so I’ve replaced it with one just for the Inkpourium tagged images.
Unfortunately Flickr tagging appears to be badly broken at the moment which means that some tagged photos may not appear when they should, even though they have been properly tagged. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.
J Herbin Lavender Scented Ink Review
At last, an Ink Review of something other than a Noodler’s ink. This one is an oddity that I bought over a year ago but never got around to testing properly. Following a post on the Rhodia Drive I thought I would run it through its paces after all.
